Overchuk says translates Russian view on Europe energy crisis to US
MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk translated Russia’s perspective on the current energy crisis in Europe to the U.S. Department of State during his visit to Washington D.C. earlier in October, he said on Tuesday on the Solovyov Live YouTube channel.
“I communicated to the U.S. side our position on our assessments of the causes of what happened … on the European gas market,” Overchuk said.
He also said that the U.S. call on Russia to increase gas supplies to Europe.
“They say that they are interested in a stable Europe. They urge us to sell gas to Europe and say “if you sell gas to Europe, you will send a clear signal that you are not using gas as a weapon.” But we have never used it as a weapon anyway,” Overchuk said.
